The waveforms are created by periodic oscillations that move through spaces in a time-dependent mode. The waves are generated by oscillators, which can be parametrised in their position, amplitude, phase and frequency. The collision of waves is called resonance, interference or superposition. The function can be described mathematically and is translated into algorithms that are used in design.

The use of computer-aided design methods allows physical simulations in virtual space. In this way, the individual control of all shape-defining influencing variables is possible. The final shape is then transferred to a special manufacturing process so that the wave patterns can be experienced visually and tactilely.
